Meditation implies a state without mind, a state of freedom from the mind: even concentration is not allowed there. The mind is not allowed to be there at all! Therefore, meditation cannot be achieved through the mind. Up to concentration, the mind has its rise; it is allowed access. The mind can comprehend concentration.
